About us.

At the 2nd Asian Transkarst Conference in Lichuan, Hubei (China) the Asian Union of Speleology (AUS) was founded on 6th November 2015.

5th November where Asian delegates from South Korea, China, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Iran, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, Lebanon and Indonesia agreed on the Statute, which was formally signed by the founding members on 6th November.

Prof. Eko Haryono (Indonesia) was elected President of AUS. Vice-President is Zhang Yuan Hai (China) and General-Secretary of AUS is Satoshi Goto (Japan).

The Asian Union of Speleology (AUS) is an association of individual persons authorised to represent recognized national speleological organization, scientific institutions related to cave and karst research, and Individual or foreign observers working in the field of karstology and speleology in Asian countries.

The aims of the AUS are:

a) to form a network of all cave and karst related individuals and institutions in the Member countries.

b) to support their activities and to represent them in the framework of the political, legal, administrative and economic institutions of Asia as well as on global scale.
